Side-scroller Concept 2

I haven't had a chance to work on the actual game in a while. I have a need of portfolio pieces, and I need them like last week @.@ so I've mostly been doing work that I can finish fairly quickly. Thus I decided to re-do the concept piece for my game. This is more like the actual ending graphics for the game. In fact the trees and girl are taken from the game sprites.

The next game-play aspect I need to tackle (when I can return to this in a month *sob*) is attacking. The character will need a weapon of some sort. I'm open to suggestions. I've decided the story is set in 1812, so it will need to be something that existed back then.
